I.M.P.A.C.T. System™
HemoLife Medical Inc. has developed the I.M.P.A.C.T. System™ for the Intermittent Modular Plasma Adsorption of Cytokines and Toxins. The integrated system of components consists of the HLM-100 Plasma Adsorption Column, the HLM-200 Plasma Separator, the HLM-300 Hollow Fiber Capsule Filter, the HLM-400 Hemofilter and interconnecting tubing. These components, along with a CRRT based hardware device, will be used for the beside extracorporeal treatment of patients in Liver Failure, Sepsis and Acute Renal Failure.

Key Benefits

  • Ease of operation based on conventional CRRT technology
  • Integrated safety features including programmable pressure, air and flow alarms
  • Quiet operation and small "footprint" to facilitate use at the bedside
  • Integrated blood warmer
  • System primed with balanced electrolyte IV solution
  • Low priming volume

HLM-100
The heart of the I.M.P.A.C.T. System is the HLM-100 Adsorption Column. This device contains a combination of non-ionic adsorbent materials specifically formulated to bind toxins and cytokines associated with Hepatic Failure, Sepsis and Acute Renal Failure.

Key Benefits

  • Large adsorbent surface area for high binding capacity
  • Non-ionic materials avoid alteration to serum electrolytes
  • Low pressure drop
  • Low priming volume
  • Proven biocompatibility

HLM-200
The HLM-200 is a 1 square meter surface area 0.45 micron polysulfone hollow fiber Plasma Separator. This device separates plasma from blood to allow the direct contact of the toxins and cytokines found in plasma with the adsorbents in the HLM-100 Adsorption Column.

Key Benefits

  • High molecular weight cut-off allows key plasma elements to be treated with the HLM-100 Adsorption Column
  • Large surface area and molecular weight cut-off provide low filter pressure drop and trans-membrane pressure to minimize formed element trauma
  • Low priming volume
  • Proven biocompatibility

hlm300

HLM-300
The HLM-300 is a 1,800 square centimeter surface area 0.45 micron polysulfone Hollow Fiber Capsule Filter placed downstream of the HLM-100 Adsorption column. It's purpose is to provide an additional layer of safety to trap micro emboli if needed.

Key Benefits

  • Large surface area and fixed pore size for effective filtration
  • Low pressure drop
  • Proven biocompatibility
  • Easy to set-up and prime
  • Low priming volume

hlm400

HLM-400
The HLM-400 is a 0.5 square meter surface area 60kD polysulfone hollow fiber Hemofilter. This high flux Hemofilter is capable of removing excess patient volume if directed by the treating physician.

Key Benefits

  • Large molecular weight cut-off allows for SCUF, ZBUF and conventional CVVH during the I.M.P.A.C.T. System treatment
  • Easy to set-up and prime
  • Low priming volume
  • Proven performance and biocompatibility

I.M.P.A.C.T. System™ and components are currently for Investigational Use Only.
